UVS Annual Requiem Mass

On the 2nd of November, Una Voce Scotland are hosting our annual Requiem Mass for deceased members. Providentially, this fall’s in the feast of All Souls.

Schola Una Voce will be providing the music which, in addition to the chant, will include music from Victoria’s Missa pro Defunctis a4.

All are welcome to attend the Mass and members will stay for the AGM afterwards.

Do you know Credo IV?

Credo IV

A straightforward video post today. Here is the beautiful Credo IV performed by Schola Una Voce a few months ago. I first heard this setting of the creed in an album recorded by Westminster Cathedral Choir and particularly loved the organ accompaniment. There is just something heavenly about a major subdominant in mode I!

Cardinal Burke in Glasgow

It is great to see that New Liturgical Movement picked up on our Pontifical High Mass with Cardinal Burke on Saturday.

I am looking forward to sharing the film of the Mass and to hearing how Schola Una Voce came across in the recording. On the day, they couldn’t have sounded better. The Cardinal was very pleased with the music and took time to speak with the choir and I after the Mass.

Mrs Pearce made a cake for the occasion, in the form of a red biretta!

Schola Una Voce: Whet your appetite…

For those who are planning to attend the Pontifical High Mass at the Throne offered by Cardinal Burke on the 14th, here is something from his last visit to whet your appetite!

Schola Una Voce is the choir of Una Voce Scotland and unites singers from the Latin Mass communities around Scotland.

Cardinal Burke to visit Glasgow, September 2019

I am delighted to be directing the music once again for a Pontifical High Mass offered by His Eminence Cardinal Burke on 14th September at Immaculate Heart Church, Balornock. I’m looking forward to working with an expanded Schola Una Voce which brings together singers from the Latin Mass communities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee. Music list TBA.
